About Top Hat Society

THS was born out of the Giraffe Tower NFT project and Gary Club community. The crown trait is commonly found to be the favored trait across NFT projects. Well, the crown trait is one that I never acquired for my own collection of giraffe. I did happen to acquire one with a tophat. I became fond of the tophat, as I grew up with tophat-wearing icons such as the Monopoly Man and Mr. Peanut. I started voicing my preference of tophats over crowns in a playful teasing way around the community.

Website

One day in August 2023 I just had the idea to create a sub community that was exclusive to tophat giraffe NFT owners, and I created this website. It started out with just articles about Gary Club and help guides for newbies to crypto and NFTs.

Access-Control

In 2024, I developed a token-gating tech I call Rhino Gate. With Rhino Gate I was able to create a private Telegram group that can only be accessed by people who own the digital assets I specify; at the time those were either a giraffe NFT with the tophat trait or 1 million THS coin (don’t worry that is less than ten dollars).

Since then Rhino Gate can also control access to sections of WordPress websites. On THS I have learning courses that can only be accessed by people who own the required tokens.

Growing the Community

In Nov 2024 we started an X Community to begin outreach on the platform as well as hosting audio chat spaces.
